'Hibernate' will be released on Jan 11th 2019.
All proceeds will go to Homelessness Charity Crisis.
Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. They support people out of homelessness for good. Crisis do this through education, training and support with housing, employment and health. They offer one to one support, advice, and courses for homeless people in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales.
"Crisis help people directly out of homelessness, and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether. We know that together we can end homelessness."
"It was pretty freezing in London, so naturally I wanted to reflect that and Hibernate was about creating the most glacial synth-saturated sound world i could, so rather than a song I see Hibernate as an instrumental with a sung hook.
Moaning about the weather used to be this conversation filler, but i feel like it’s become small talk for our existential angst about global warming, something we don't really seem to be able to comprehend as we seem to see ourselves as separate from the environment, if we could see that we are the environment then I'm sure we’d take better care of it. I tried to reflect this in the production - the thing that excites me about producing is it gives you the same kind of power I used to find in playing The Sims as a kid, binaries like this can be smashed & broken down, my voice can be at the front sounding human or it can be manipulated, distorted and granulated to become the any element, texture or atmosphere.
Whilst producing I was getting the train up and down London listening to my mixes of the track a lot and giving out money to the increasing amount of homeless people when i could, but never feeling like it was enough. living in the UK you are most confronted with the weathers extremes when your aware of the estimated 300,000 people who are homeless - hibernation is a luxury.
I couldn’t stop thinking about this when producing the song so have decided that all proceeds from the tracks sales on Bandcamp will go to homeless shelters.
The past 3 singles I've put out (lagoon, i adore and hibernate) all have a limited pallet of synths, samples, saxophones and singing which I've been using to produce with.
I feel they also reflect that darker sound worlds I’ve been gravitating towar ds creating in my live show which I program mic’s for and live-sample essentially building sound worlds on the spot."
